Common Mistakes Millennials Make and How To Avoid Them

If you are a millennial that is in the market to buy a home for sale in South Lake Tahoe, you won’t want to miss this blog! Especially if this is your first time buying a Lake Tahoe home for sale. Why? Because there are some very common mistakes that Millennials are making during the Lake Tahoe real estate process that can hinder their ability to snag that dream home. During a seller’s market, it is tough enough. Make sure you aren’t doing the following and you have an even better chance of getting that South Lake Tahoe home for sale.

Leave the entourage at home!

We know, this is a super exciting time and you want to show off this home you are thinking of putting an offer on. However, if you really love it and it fits all your wants and needs, show it to your family and friends after you have made an offer. By showing the property to family and friends, you open yourself up to their opinions and possibly being talked out of the home you really want. Here are a few examples: Let’s say you want a home that will be great for the future spouse and kids. Your friends may try to get you into that 2 bedroom condo to deter you from settling down anytime soon. OR, you may be looking for that perfect “Bach Pad” as you have no plans of settling down any time soon and your parents may push you towards that single family home with a white picket fence that simply isn’t you…..right now. When looking for real estate for sale in Lake Tahoe, leave the crew at home until after you have put in an offer. This ensures you will not be swayed from what you really want.

Listen to your Lake Tahoe Realtor when it comes to urgency and the market.

If your family members and friends aren’t currently buying or selling, chances are they do not understand your local market. They may have a general idea of what is happening in United States real estate, but Lake Tahoe real estate needs to be left to the professionals. So if your agent is telling you to put an offer in now, don’t listen to your uncle that suggests you look around a bit more. By ignoring your South Lake Tahoe realtor, you put yourself at risk of losing the property and having to start at square one.

Present yourself professionally.

This doesn’t mean you need to wear your best power suit to a showing. This is a laid back mountain town, after all. However, by making sure you keep your appearance clean and professional, you give the seller a little more confidence that you are a serious buyer. If it comes down to a bidding war, you want to be remembered as professional and put together.
